With Odoo standard and manual records of internal references, internal references do not help to organize your master data and quickly become messy. So, you just use the name - with all the risks behind a name (not unique, subjective,...).
With Cluedoo, internal reference is just what is should be: automatic, help your team to keep a well-structured and organized master data, improve quick search of the product and understanding of the product category structure.
CLUEDOO RECOMMENDATIONS
To be used on 100% of the database. Required for a big product database in order to keep a clean organization. And easier to manage small product databases and ensure that a reference is given both on product templates and product internal references.
HOW TO USE THIS MODULE
1- Go to Inventory/ Configuration/ Product Categories - Open a Product Category. - Check the Lock ODS checkbox. - Product ref: By sequence: formulate sequence by fill in the Internal Reference and choose the Separator. Python code: formulate sequence by Python code and choose Separator - Click Create Sequence to create a new sequence template from combination above - Action/ Compute Sequence to compute sequence all the existing products of the product category. Result: Sequences are generated |    |
2Check Generate Reference then when you create a new product for that product category, the reference will be automatically created |

4Concatenate Product Variant Reference - On product category check the Concatenated Product Variant checkbox - Go to Inventory/ Products/ Product Variants - Select product variants of the category above - Click Action/ Concatenate Product Variant Result: Sequences are created for the product variants with attribute values |

Update v18 Compute sequence in a particular product templateUpon clicking the Compute Sequence button for a product with variants, the internal reference of all variants is automatically computed based on that of the product template Ex: If we manually modify the internal reference of a product template and want that of its variants to change accordingly, we should use this button because it won't affect the internal reference of the other products in the same product category |

Lock ReferenceIf the Lock Reference checkbox is checked in a product template, the Internal Reference of this template and variants will always remain stable whenever we change the product category of this template or click on the compute sequence button in the product category/ product template |
